World Class Grads Maryland

Join us today to ensure the success of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.

World Class Graduates-Maryland is focused on the goal that every child entering Maryland schools is prepared after grade 10 to enter college or a pursue a 21st Century career path. We work to ensure efforts to continue college and career development past grade 10 are robust and meets the needs of each student. Our plans for this work can be found here.

The Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education was formed in 2016 and chaired by Dr. William E. Kirwan. The commission was charged to study best practices from around the world and, based on their findings, to make recommendations for K through 12 education in Maryland. Find out more about the resulting findings and reports here.

World Class Grads Maryland (WCG-MD) is a group of community leaders with experience and expertise in a wide variety of educational and business environments. We expect to bring others into the process of keeping the Blueprint true to the original expectations of the Maryland General Assembly. You can learn more about who we are here.

WCG-MD studied the Kirwan reports and resulting Blueprint for Maryland legislation designed to implement the Commission’s findings. We concluded that this Blueprint is the best hope to realize a bright future for Maryland students and thus for the state. WCG-MD believes that all citizens of Maryland should know what the Blueprint is and what role each citizen must play to make it successful. Find out more about the Blueprint here.

We expect to partner with organizations throughout the state to bring knowledge and support for actions that research has shown will lead to success for all students. We will support the Maryland Legislature, the Maryland State Department of Education, and the Accountability and Implementation Board as they work together to make Maryland a leader in education and employment opportunities and a highly desirable place to live and work.

We will be enhancing our communications to the public via this website, and through social media. You will be able to find our research results and those of others that are relevant. Return to this page to see how we are enhancing our offerings to help you to get involved and to observe our progress.
